IT'S EMMY TIME

9/21/2013

Hey you geeks, the Emmys take place this Sunday afternoon. The first half of the Emmys, the Creative Arts Emmys, took place last Sunday. Our cousin and the team he's on were nominated for an award. Their category was "Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie Or a Special". They were nominated for The Walking Dead. They won last year and were looking to make a pair of bookends. Alas, they lost out to the Liberace movie, Behind The Candelabra. Maybe next year. The good news, the zombies will be back next month, October 13th.

The second half of the Emmys, the Primetime Emmys, airs with our favorite host, Neil Patrick Harris. Our favorite nominees: Best Drama-Breaking Bad (a House of Cards win would be just as good); Lead Actor, Drama-Kevin Spacey; Lead Actress, Drama-Kerry Washington, (But what happened to Julianna Margulies? What a baddie, leaving outi one of the very best); Comedy Series-Modern Family; Lead actor, Comedy-Alec Baldwin; Lead Actress, Comedy-Amy

Poehler; Miniseries or Movie-Behind The Candelabra.

After the show, we can really get ready for the new season of competition.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

9/3/2013

Labor Day Weekend was great this year.  Good times were had by all at Dragon Con.  Seeing part of the Spartacus gang at the Atlanta Braves/Cleveland Indians baseball game last Thursday was fun.  Lucy Lawless  yelled "play ball" and Liam McIntyre threw out the first pitch.  Lucy had a lively, fun panel  on Friday with just herself sitting down to answer questions.  She's really cool.  Then the Spartacus crew, Lucy, Liam, and Manu Bennett, had their panel on Saturday.  The guys are funny and really cute.  We got to see some really cool costumes.  Its hard to say which was best, there were so many good ones.  There were some awesome animation representation too, like Adventure Time.  We didn't get to stay  on for the Sunday Labor Day con events.  Had to make it back to Los Angeles in time for one of the Los Angeles Times' The Taste food and drink events.

As a big aside, much praise goes to Diana Nyad for her swinging feat from Cuba to Florida.  What a great inspiration.

HOOF APPROVAL  for DRAGON CON and DIANA NYAD.
